The 2025 CAF Clubs’ Ranking has been released, with only two Ghanaian clubs making the prestigious continental list — Dreams FC and Medeama SC — while giants Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak are conspicuously absent.
Dreams FC, who finished in the semifinals of the 23/24 CAF Confederation Cup, are ranked 26th with 12 points, making them Ghana’s top-placed club.
Medeama SC, who progressed to the group stage in the 23/24 CAF Champions League, sit in joint 51st position with 4 points.
North and Southern African sides dominate the rankings, led by Egypt’s Al Ahly (78 points), South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns (62 points), and Tunisia’s Esperance Sportive de Tunis (57 points).
The absence of Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak — historically Ghana’s most decorated clubs — highlights their struggles in recent years to make an impact in African competitions.
Both have failed to progress deep enough in CAF tournaments to earn ranking points, a stark contrast to their illustrious pasts.
