The Ghana Football Association (GFA) Congress has voted overwhelmingly to extend the presidential term limit from two to three terms.
Out of 124 delegates present, 114 supported the amendment, while six voted against it and three abstained.
The decision forms part of a series of changes to the GFA statutes aimed at restructuring the administration of football in the country.
The amendment means a GFA president can now serve up to 12 years, provided they win the necessary elections.
Supporters of the move argue that it allows for continuity and the completion of long-term projects, while critics fear it could limit leadership turnover and fresh ideas.
The new statute takes immediate effect, potentially impacting the next GFA presidential elections.
