Chad head coach Raoul Savoy says his side will be motivated by pride and the desire to impress their fans when they face Ghana in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying clash on Thursday, September 4.
The match, a Matchday 5 fixture, will be played at the newly constructed Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno — Chad’s first home game of the campaign after playing their opening fixtures in Morocco.
Speaking to Ghanasportspage.com, the Swiss gaffer admitted Ghana will be a difficult opponent but insisted his team is working hard to give a strong performance despite their slim chances of qualification.
“Playing Ghana is always difficult but we’re working hard to beat them. Our position on the table makes it difficult for us to qualify, but we are committed to impressing our fans who still believe in us.
It’s our first home game in Chad after playing the previous two in Morocco. Hopefully, we will make it count,” he added.
Raoul Savoy was appointed in August, replacing Tahir Gardia who was dismissed after a terrible start in the World Cup qualifiers.
Ghana currently top the group with 15 points after six games, while Chad sit bottom with zero points.
The Black Stars thrashed Chad 5-0 in the reverse fixture in Accra, and will be looking to extend their unbeaten run as they push toward securing qualification for the World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
