The Ministry of Youth and Sports has significantly reduced the Black Stars’ budget for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad, slashing it from an estimated $1,239,090 to $841,290.

According to figures obtained by Sporty FM, several budget lines were either reduced or canceled entirely.

Key Adjustments

Charter Flight: $300,000 approved (unchanged)

Per Diem (Players – 26): $150 approved (unchanged)

Per Diem (Officials – 27): $200 approved (unchanged)

Accommodation in Chad (Players/Officials): $250 approved (unchanged)

Incidental Expenses: Reduced from $60,000 to $20,000

Meals in Chad: $80 approved (unchanged)

Bonuses for Players: Cut from $10,000 to $5,000

Bonuses for Head Coach: Reduced from $20,000 to $10,000

Bonuses for Assistant Coaches: Reduced from $10,000 to $5,000

Bonuses for Team Officials: Entirely cancelled

Bonuses for Medical & Technical Support Staff (doctor, physio, video analyst, psychologist): Reduced from $10,000 to $4,000

Bonuses for Kits Officer, Media, Masseur, Welfare Officer, Dietician: Reduced from $8,000 to $4,000

The cuts reflect the government’s efforts to streamline expenditure, particularly on bonuses and incidental allowances, while maintaining essential costs such as travel, accommodation, and player per diems.

The Black Stars face Chad on Thursday, September 4 at the newly constructed Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno in N’Djamena.

Ghana currently leads the group with 15 points, while Chad sits bottom with zero.
