Former Board Chairman and Ag. Director General of National Sports Authority (NSA), Hon. Seth Panwum Boyoyo has fired Ghana coach Otto Addo for failing to beat Chad in the FIFA World Cup qualifier game on Thursday.
Ghana coach Otto Addo has being under intense pressure with his recent performance, latest of it is the shocking draw with Chad.
The former Ghana international and ex-Dortmund trainer scout was appointed Black Stars gaffer in March 2024 and handed him a long-term contract, succeeding Christopher Hughton. With Ghana expecting to secure a comfortable lead in Group I, for a ticket to 2026 FIFA World Cup, Otto Addo led his charges to Chad but failed to pick a win.
Despite Mohammed Kudus setting up skipper Jordan Ayew in the first half to break the deadlock, Black Stars went on to draw 1-1 at full time, having failed to keep their back line in shape, conceding in the 89th minute.
This result though still sees Ghana sit summit of the group with three-point lead but stands the chance of bottling it, should results of next matches in the group swings. Ghana sit top with 16 points with Madagascar second with 13 points following a 2-0 win over Central African Republic.
Mali are a point further behind after reviving their campaign by beating Comoros 3-0.
Considering this calculations, has seen many fire Coach Otto Addo including former Board Chairman and Ag. Director General of National Sports Authority (NSA), Hon. Seth Panwum Boyoyo.
In an interview, he fired Otto insisting the German trained tactician has no business at Black Stars and is not good enough to handle such a football nation.
“Otto himself isn’t a good coach; we had no business keeping him”
“He doesn’t love Ghana, he should admit he has failed us and resign. Ghanaian fans won’t forgive him if he messes with these World Cup qualifiers,” he told Akoma FM.
Only the group winners are assured of a place at next year’s finals in Canada, Mexico and the United States.
