Former National Sports Authority (NSA) Boss, Hon. Kwadwo Baah Agyemang has hit hard on the Ghana Football Association for undermining the passion of Ghanaian football enthusiasts, with the appointment of Otto Addo as Ghana national men’s team coach.
He also blast the association for firstly offering Otto Addo the mandate to manage Black Stars when he is not up there as a tactician. Otto Addo was handed a long-term contract in March 2024 after leaving his role as Dortmund trainers scout but have yet to impress with the Black Stars, coming under pressure each period.
Otto Addo, an ex-Black Stars midfielder is on the verge of facing his worst period as a manager should he fall short to qualifying for FIFA World Cup in 2026.
He led Ghana to draw 1-1 in Chad despite a first half goal, leaving Black Stars chances to calculation and mathematics though he has another test against Mali in Group I fixture of the World Cup qualifiers.
Hon. Kwadwo Baah Agyemang putting in perspective his statistics since taking the job, considers Otto Addo a mediocre coach.
“If Ghana hires a top-performing coach with a $100k salary, Ghanaians would likely support him to deliver results. However, those who hired Otto Addo seemed more concerned about the salary, which is why we got a mediocre coach. It’s a waste of funds,” he said.
The Black Stars are currently topping Group I with 16 points after 5 wins, 1 draw, and 1 loss in 7 matches in the qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Canada, Mexico, and the United States of America.
Ghana takes on Mali on Monday, September 08, 2025 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
