Hearts of Oak midfielder Abdul Karim has issued an apology to fans following a disappointing goalless draw against newly promoted Hohoe United in the opening match of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Phobians dominated possession but struggled to break down the visitors, who sat deep and defended in numbers to frustrate the home side.
Despite ending the game with 10 men, the debutants managed to secure a point.
Speaking after the match, Abdul Karim admitted disappointment with the result and assured fans that the team would improve in upcoming games.
“We apologize to our supporters for not being able to win. We really wanted to win but it didn’t happen. Our opponents sat back too much so it made it difficult, but we will work hard to get the goals in our subsequent matches,” he told TV3.
The draw means Hearts missed the chance to start the season with a statement victory in front of their home supporters.
The Accra-based giants will now shift their focus to their next fixture against Dreams FC on September 20, as they look to secure their first win of the new campaign.
