Accra Hearts of Oak SC number one, Benjamin Asare has received praise from the technical advisor of the Black Stars Winfried Schäfer, following his exploit with the Ghana men’s national team- Black Stars.
The 32-year old shot-stopper in March 2025 earned his maiden Black Stars call-up for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Chad and Madagascar and has since being an integral member of coach Otto Addo team.
He’s being the first choice for Ghana in their last four competitive matches.
Asare’s performance as a local based player has caught the attention of Black Stars technical advisor who believes his output is a role model to all players in their domestic league.
“We have many top players playing in Europe, but our goalkeeper is a local and was fantastic on Monday. I want to visit the clubs and use him as a role model. All players have a chance to play for the Black Stars team”
“It’s great motivation for everyone. I’ll be watching the games too. Most African players who play in Europe come from Ghana, and we must be the heart of African football again”, Winfried Schäfer told Kessben FM.
Asare has conceded just a goal in his last two appearances for the Black Stars, mending the goalpost four times.Accra Hearts of Oak SC number one, Benjamin Asare has received praise from the technical advisor of the Black Stars Winfried Schäfer, following his exploit with the Ghana men’s national team- Black Stars.
