Asante Kotoko striker Albert Amoah has shared his thoughts following the Porcupine Warriors’ thrilling 4-3 victory against Kwara United in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup preliminary tie at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Amoah, who netted a brace on the afternoon, emphasized that Kotoko did not underestimate their Nigerian opponents despite conceding three goals.
“We didn’t underrate them because we wanted to win and score more goals. That’s why we quickly recovered the ball for restart after we scored, but mistakes happened and that’s how they scored,” Amoah told reporters after the game.
Asked whether Kotoko could secure qualification in the second leg, Amoah urged caution, pointing to the unpredictability of football.
“Did you imagine them scoring three goals here? That’s how football is and that’s how you have to see it,” he added.
Aside from Amoah’s brace, Emmanuel Amoah and Joseph Ablorh also got on the scoresheet for Kotoko.
The return leg is set for September 28 in Ilorin, Nigeria, where Kotoko will be aiming to protect their slender lead and advance to the next round.
