The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced changes to the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League calendar following FIFA’s confirmation of the final Matchday 10 fixture in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The Black Stars will play their decisive qualifier at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, 12 October 2025, forcing a realignment of league matches to fit the international schedule and optimize television coverage.
As part of the adjustment:
Matchday 5 and Matchday 9 fixtures have been swapped.
Matchday 9 will now take place from Friday, 10 October to Monday, 13 October 2025.
Matchday 5 has been rescheduled for Friday, 6 November to Monday, 9 November 2025.
The GFA further explained that:
Clubs scheduled to play at home outside Accra during the revised Matchday 5 may stage their games on Sunday, unless chosen for live TV broadcast.
Clubs based in Accra will host their Matchday 9 fixtures on Monday, 13 October 2025, a day after the Black Stars’ World Cup qualifier.
The Association emphasized that all Premier League clubs have been officially notified of the adjustments and urged stakeholders to take note of the new dates.
According to the GFA, the changes are necessary to protect the integrity of the Premier League season, while also supporting Ghana’s quest for 2026 World Cup qualification and ensuring seamless television coverage for fans across the country.
