Asante Kotoko head coach Abdul Karim Zito has aimed a dig at Kwara United’s trainer following his side’s narrow 1-0 victory in Abuja to seal qualification in the CAF Confederation Cup.
The veteran coach, who masterminded Kotoko’s aggregate triumph over the Nigerians, did not hold back in his post-match comments.
“Kwara United’s coach, who doesn’t even have a license, was talking nonsense when I beat him in Ghana,” Zito said.
“I taught him sense by beating him again today.”
Kotoko, who had earlier won 4-3 in the first leg in Accra, put up a resolute performance in the return fixture to edge their opponents 1-0, completing a 5-3 aggregate win and advancing to the next stage of the competition.
Zito’s remarks underline the competitive edge and rivalry between the two sides, with the coach now turning his attention to preparing his team for the upcoming continental challenge.
Kotoko will now face Morrocan side Wydad Casablanca in the final round in October in bid for a group stage slot.
