Asante Kotoko will host Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club (WAC) at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi in the playoff round of the CAF Confederation Cup after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) approved the venue.
Kotoko’s traditional home ground had been under renovation, forcing the club to stage their previous home fixture in the preliminary round at the Accra Sports Stadium.
However, with clearance now given by CAF, the Porcupine Warriors will return to Kumasi to face Wydad Athletic.
The first leg of the playoff is scheduled for Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the Baba Yara Stadium, with the second leg set for Saturday, October 25, 2025, in Morocco.
The aggregate winner will progress to the lucrative group stage of the competition.
Kotoko advanced to this stage after eliminating Nigeria’s Kwara United 5-3 on aggregate, while Wydad dropped into the Confederation Cup following their early exit from the CAF Champions League.
The clash is expected to be one of the most high-profile encounters of the playoff round, with Kotoko determined to extend Ghana’s presence on the continental stage against a side with vast experience in African competitions.
