Former Black Stars captain and member of Black Stars management committee, Stephen Appiah, has indicated that the team will probably celebrate their qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Sunday, October 12, 2025, together with the fans.
Ghana, top of their group, will confirm their qualification on Sunday as they lead the second place, Madagascar, by three points and 8 goals after their emphatic 5-0 victory over the Central African Republic (CAR).
Speaking to Joy Sports after the win, Appiah praised the team’s performance and assured fans of an exciting the final qualifier against Comoros.
“They have done well and for sure, I know that on Sunday, in front of Ghanaians, we are going to celebrate together; that would be the beauty of qualifying for the World Cup,” Appiah said.
Looking ahead to the final fixture against Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium, Appiah was confident the Black Stars will finish the job in front of their home fans.
“We will play our last game at home, we will beat Comoros, and everybody will be happy,” he added.
The decisive encounter is scheduled for Sunday at 19:00 GMT.
Ghana have lost their last two games against Comoros and would want to end thee streak and qualify for the World Cup on a strong foot.
