Ghana’s coach Otto Addo have being addressing issues pertaining to players addition to the Black Stars team for next year’s FIFA World Cup in USA, Mexico and Canada.
The Black Stars finished top of Group I, to book their ticket to the Mundial, marking their fifth appearance after amassing 25 points with 8 victories. Upon Ghana’s qualification, some names pop-up for invite to the team, including Nottingham Forest winger Callum Hudson-Odoi and Eddie Nketiah of Crystal Palace.
Both represented England youth teams through to the first team but now open to nationality switch.
With their intentions of accepting Ghana for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, coach Otto Addo revealed there would be the need to check commitment level of each player insisting Ghana ought to have a certain pride on knowing who to invite.
“We will look at each case one by one. There are players I have been chasing since 2021, who didn’t reply to our calls or want to come”
“It’s a different thing we haven’t approached you and now you want to come or we have been approaching you all the way and you said no but now as we are at the world Cup so you want to come”, Otto said.
“I think Ghana should always have a certain pride. As a country, we need to check the commitment of each player which is very crucial because we have very good unity and definitely don’t want to destroy it by bringing players who don’t have commitment”.
