CAF Confederation Cup: Asante Kotoko must revenge against Wydad Athletic Club – Yusif Chibsah
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter
Asante Kotoko SC lost their CAF Confederation Cup first leg game at home to Wydad Athletic Club to mount severe pressure on the team. A 47th minute strike from a corner kick punished the host, who were determined to avoid defeat at home.

The Reds would now have a tall mountain to climb, when they visit the African giant’s in the coming days.

With the task looking difficult for the West African country, head of Player Relations at the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) and former Asante Kotoko SC midfielder, Yusif Chibsah, wants the Porcupine warriors to take a revenge in the second leg.

Chibsah is confident Kotoko can overturn the results to their favour, despite home defeat.

Chibsah described the tie as a chance for the Porcupine Warriors to avenge their painful loss to Wydad in the 2002 final.

“It’s going to be a difficult game, but for Asante Kotoko, it’s a revenge. They snatched a trophy from Kotoko in 2002. Kotoko has never lost to them in 90 minutes of football, but I believe it is not trying Kotoko. Kotoko has beaten WAC before I it’s beyond this team.”

Chibsah maintained that Kotoko have what it takes to beat the Moroccan side despite the North Africans’ reputation for discipline and investment in their football.

“I strongly believe WAC is beatable, and Asante Kotoko must be able to do that. The North African clubs have a way of doing their football. They invest, and they have qualified, but I believe Kotoko can win,” he added.
