Asante Kotoko coach Karim Zito has adopted a resolute stance following the permanent transfer of prolific striker Albert Amoah to Libyan giants Al Ahly Benghazi.
The coach stated that there is “no need to continue crying,” and has challenged the remaining squad members to rise to the occasion.
Amoah’s transfer, confirmed by the club, sees one of the Ghana Premier League’s most consistent goalscorers move to the North African club, representing a significant loss for the Porcupine Warriors’ attack.
Zito, speaking shortly after the transfer was made official, emphasized that the team must look forward and focus on developing the players they still have.
“It’s all about attitude. Definitely, he is gone. There is no need to continue crying. We won’t get him back, so we are preparing the other players to take over,” Zito said.
The transfer of the 23-year-old Amoah to Al Ahly Benghazi highlights the growing trend of top Ghanaian talent moving to North African clubs.
The striker had been a standout performer for Kotoko, catching the eye of the Libyan powerhouse with his pace and clinical finishing both domestically and in continental competitions.
He spent just two seasons with Reds before his jaw dropping transfer, which was confirmed right after Kotoko’s elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup.
