Head coach of Ghana, Otto Addo has rendered an apology to national team captain of South Korea Son Heung-min ahead of Kirin Cup game tomorrow.
Both parties met at German, with Hamburger SV with Otto Addo in charge of youth team as head coach but could not offer him much playing time. Speaking at press conference before their game revealed what transpired saying it was purely language barrier and nothing much.
According to Otto Addo, the former Los Angeles FC talisman found it difficult to settle because he could not speak English except Korean and that did not help since he could not communicate tactically well with him.
“We always used Dori Cha, a former teammate of mine for him to translate how we wanted to play and what we expected from him,” Otto Addo said.
“The first days were very, very difficult at the beginning, I want to apologise to Son.
“He didn’t play too much because I couldn’t explain to him the tactics. It was difficult. But later, he did a great job for us in Hamburg, not only as a youth player, but also as a player in the first team.
On Tuesday, Son will cross path with Otto Addo at the Seoul World Cup Stadium, where the latter has warned his players to watch the former Tottenham Hotspur forward since he’s dangerous.
