The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has formally charged Asante Kotoko SC with misconduct following their Matchday 11 encounter against FC Samartex 1996 in the ongoing 2025/2026 Ghana Premier League season.
In a statement released by the Association, Kotoko is accused of breaching Section 34(6)(d) of the GFA Premier League Regulations, 2025.
The regulation concerns comments or behaviour that tarnish the image of the league or pose risks to match officials and the integrity of the game.
According to the GFA, the club is alleged to have published inciteful comments on social media after the fixture, comments which the Association believes had the potential to encourage violence against the match official involved in the game.
The governing body noted that such remarks constitute misconduct and “bring the game into disrepute.”
The disciplinary action adds further tension to what has been an intense season for the Kumasi-based club both on and off the pitch.
Kotoko, who played out a goalless draw in Samreboi—including a dramatic late penalty save—now face the task of responding to the charges while continuing their push up the league table.
The GFA has given Asante Kotoko until Wednesday, November 26, 2025, to submit their official response to the charge. Failure to do so may result in further sanctions, including fines or other disciplinary measures in line with the Association’s regulations.
The case is expected to be reviewed shortly after the club’s submission as the GFA continues its efforts to curb misconduct and preserve the credibility of the league.
