Ghana Premier League side Basake Holy Stars have bolstered their technical bench with the appointment of veteran Ghanaian coach Johnson Smith.
The club announced the move through an official statement on their Facebook page on Tuesday, November 25.
Smith, a well-respected figure in Ghanaian football circles, brings decades of coaching experience to the team, having previously handled several top-flight sides, including Asante Kotoko, where he served in various capacities from assistant to interim head coach.
In the club’s welcoming message, Holy Stars expressed optimism about the value Smith will add:
“Basake Holy Stars warmly welcomes Johnson Smith to our technical team. His expertise and experience will be an asset to our club. We look forward to achieving more together.”
The appointment follows the exit of Evans Addottey who stepped down from the role on Tuesday, November 25, 2025.
Smith’s arrival is expected to provide additional technical depth and strategic support as Holy Stars aim to secure their place in the league and build a competitive long-term project.
His first test on the bench will be against his former side, Asante Kotoko on Wednesday, November 26.
