Four times African Cup of Nations winner’s, Ghana has secured ticket to their fifth FIFA World Cup and will be present in it’s 23rd edition come next year in USA, Canada and Mexico.
The Black Stars has been housed in Group L, following a successful draw in Washington DC last week. Ghana faces England, Croatia and Panama in a tournament that starts in June 11.
Many have already considered England as favourite to top Group L, with Ghana taking on Thomas Tuchel side in June 23, 2026 as their second group game.
However, former Black Stars forward Augustine Arhinful believe Ghana has every quality to match the English team boot-for-boot irrespective of the hype around the team. Arhinful believes, with every technical point tackled well and every detail of the game utilized, Ghana can stand England at the World Cup.
“I was even speaking to the UK High Commissioner and told him I wanted us to meet England. He said no, because if they lose to us, his people won’t be happy.”
”It’s football. I’ve always felt we can match the English team boot-for-boot”, Arhinful said.
“At the end of the day, if you prepare well, your strategy works, and a little luck comes your way, you can win any game,” he told Citi Sports.
Ghana will be hoping to give a better account of themselves at the Mundial. after a poor showcase in Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup – finishing third of group with just a point.
