Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito has aimed a strong message at sections of the media following his side’s 1-0 victory over Dreams FC on Sunday.
Zito had been berated for steering the club’s poor form–four-game winless streak prior to the win over Dreams.
Speaking after the match, Zito expressed frustration over what he described as unfair pressure and skepticism surrounding his explanations for the team’s struggles, particularly with injuries.
“Some of you are putting pressure on me,” Zito said.
“If Guardiola tells you Rodri is injured, you’ll say it is okay. But if Karim Zito tells you 13 players are injured, you say it is not okay. Well, it is between you and your God.”
The Kotoko coach stressed that injuries have significantly disrupted his plans this season and called for understanding, insisting that similar situations are accepted without question when they occur at top European clubs.
Kotoko’s narrow win over Dreams FC provided a timely boost, halting a four-match winless run and easing pressure on the technical team.
The Porcupine Warriors will now look to build on the result as they aim to regain consistency in the league.
Meanwhile, they have climbed to 3rd on the league log following the win.
