Former GFA boss Kwasi Nyantakyi calls for Hudson Odoi and Eddie Nketiah inclusion
The longest ever Ghana Football Association (GFA) President(13-years), Kwasi Nyantankyi is also calling for the inclusion of English-born Ghanaian players Callum Hudson Odoi and Eddie Nketiah into Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign squad.
The two former Three Lions attackers have become a subject of discussion for a period now, with several industry players questioning their patriotism and allegiance to Ghana having turned the West Africa country down during their youthful career days.
Odoi and Eddie have made appearance for the English national team but still eligible to switch nationality, following constant snub by the Three Lions coach.
The duo according to reports, have completed their nationality switch and eager to represent Ghana at the Mundial with several pundits against their invitation. However, former GFA president Kwasi Nyantakyi says Callum Hudson Odoi and Eddie Nketiah should be included in the FIFA World Cup squad, and offer them the chance.
Urging Ghanaians to put away sentiments and emotions in dealing with the issues.
“The Black Stars is open to every Ghanaian who is eligible to play”
“Some people become a bit sentimental and emotional, this guy dumped Ghana’, but I am interested in people who can help us achieve results”, Nyantakyi said.
“People like Eddie Nketiah and Hudson-Odoi, let’s take out our emotions and give them the chance if the coach thinks they can compete favourably,” he told JoyNews.
Ghana is making their fifth appearance at the global football stage and is housed in Group L with England, Croatia and Panama.
The Black Stars will kick start their campaign with game against Panama on June 17 in Toronto before facing European heavyweight England on June 23 in Boston then conclude group phase with Croatia clash on June 27 in Philadelphia.
