The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has imposed heavy sanctions on Morocco following incidents that occurred during the AFCON 2025 final.
According to CAF, Morocco have been fined a total of $315,000, with the penalties broken down into $200,000 for misconduct by stadium ball boys, $100,000 for misbehaviour by players and officials, and $15,000 for fans’ use of laser pointers during the final.
In a related development, CAF also delivered its verdict on Morocco’s appeal concerning the outcome of the final.
The Moroccan Football Federation had argued that Senegal should be stripped of the title, claiming the defending champions abandoned the match after briefly walking off the pitch.
However, CAF rejected the appeal, confirming that Senegal did not abandon the match and therefore remain the official winners of the AFCON 2025 title.
The decision brings an end to the post-final controversy, with CAF reiterating its stance on discipline and the integrity of its competitions.
