Former Ghana international Dan Quaye believe Hearts of Oak SC shot-stopper Benjamin Asare has proven his worth as goalkeeper beyond doubt as far as call up to the Black Stars is concerned.
Asare has been an integral member of the Ghana Men’s National team especially in their last five matches, inspiring Black Stars to their fifth FIFA World Cup. He was in goalpost when Ghana beat Central Africa Republic 1-0 at home to secure qualification to the Mundial.
Despite being captain, of Ghana Premier league giants Accra Hearts of Oak SC Benjamin Asare has commanded the post as number one.
He’s exhibited his qualities in the league with some descent clean sheets (9), in 12 matches.
Quaye in an interview with Bryt FM, disclosed that Asare has established himself and has nothing to prove before earning a spot at the Black Stars for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“Asare has established himself as Ghana’s number one goalkeeper. He has nothing to prove before earning a place in the Black Stars.
“I support Didi Dramani’s goalkeeper rotation policy because Asare needs some rest. Sammy Adjei and Eben Dida competed at the top level at Hearts, and nothing happened”, he added.
“The rotation policy won’t be problematic for either Hearts of Oak or the Black Stars. He cannot play all games. Solomon Agbasi has produced some decent performances and needs to be given the chance,” he told Bryt FM.
Ghana having being drawn against England, Croatia and Panama in Group L of the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be held in USA, Canada and Mexico is expected to parade strong squad for the campaign.
