Asante Kotoko SC have officially been eliminated from the 2025/26 MTN FA Cup following defeat to Aduana FC at home on Sunday. The Porcupine Warriors lost 4-2 on penalties after Kwame Poku and Saaka Dauda missed their kicks.
This has shattered the hopes of Kotoko returning to Africa this season, having noticed the toughness in chasing for the Premier league title.
Nana Apinkrah Akwasi Awuah, chairman of Asante Kotoko’s Interim Management Committee (IMC), issued a stern warning that there would be significant change implemented in the technical department.
He confirmed that, this decision by the IMC is dependent on Kotoko next two matches, disclosing that if the club fails to secure victories in their upcoming matches major changes will take place.
Currently, Kotoko is sitting 5th on the league table with 35 points, and faces huge pressure to deliver results in these critical games for the fans.
Speaking to Akoma FM, Nana Apinkrah emphasized the need for immediate improvement or change takes place.
“If we fail to beat Aduana FC and Hearts of Oak, major changes will occur within the team, including the players, technical staff, and management,” he stated.
The IMC Chairman statement reveals the club is poised to make decisive moves to ensure performance aligns with the expectations of their supporters.
Asante Kotoko SC in their last six games, won just one including defeat to Aduana FC and would be taking on their arch-rivals Hearts of Oak in Matchday 22 of the Ghana Premier League next weekend.
