Chairman of Asante Kotoko SC Interim Member Committee (IMC), Nana Apinkra has made a serious statement to Kotoko players aftermath Abdul Karim Zito’s exit.
Asante Kotoko SC has four days to prepare and psych their players up before hosting biggest and bitter rivals Accra Hearts of Oak SC in Kumasi- Baba Yara Sports Stadium. Asante Kotoko SC ending relationship with Karim Zito through resignation, would be meeting Hearts of Oak SC without the head coach.
The club confirmed departure of Zito on Monday evening, upon accepting his resignation letter.
Nana Apinkra, a day after the news broke out, paid a visit to Asante Kotoko SC players at training grounds Adako Jachie Complex where he stated emphatically the team would have to move away from Zito’s sack and push on.
In his message, said Kotoko can not afford further excuses but look on redeeming their image.
“We can’t afford further excuses. It’s redemption time, and let’s leave the past behind and focus on what is ahead. We must redeem ourselves on Sunday.”
Kotoko will take on Accra Hearts of Oak SC on Sunday in Ghana Premier league week 22 fixture. An encounter which for decades has become bragging right.
Currently, Kotoko is sitting 5th on the log with 35 points, just a point adrift Hearts of Oak SC(36 points) and 8 points behind league leaders Medeama SC.
