President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt E.S Okraku despite Ghana’s struggle on the African continent revealed he wants to clinch the Africa Cup of Nations title for Ghana.
Ghana in their last three appearance at the Africa Cup, showed nothing but shambolic performance. In 2019 held in Egypt, saw the Black Stars exit at the knockout phase followed by a group stage embarrassment in Cameron 2021.
In Ivory Coast 2023, Ghana once again failed to secure qualification from the group stage following a final group game draw to Egypt.
Subsequently, did not show up in Morocco 2025 edition having failed to qualify. Nonetheless, Kurt Okraku has affirmed his desire to clinch the title for the Red, Gold and Green country.
The aforementioned facts was overseen by Kurt Okraku but still insists on winning silver medal and a major trophy to Ghana.
Speaking to Asaase Radio, Kurt underlined his commitment and desire to returning Ghana to the summit of African football.
“I want to win the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), and that is the fact. Only God knows the number of times we have tried, and we have not been able to win the AFCON title.
“Basically, I want to win every tournament for Ghana, and I want to place Ghana on the medal podium on any given occasion.
“We have not won with the Black Stars, but for the U-20, they won the AFCON, and Black Queens won bronze at the WAFCON, and they are back again to compete at the WAFCON next month.
“The Black Starlets, after a number of years, are back at the AFCON and the Black Princesses just qualified for the last round of the U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers, and hopefully they will be at the World Cup. They have been there two times under my leadership,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Black Stars are set to compete at the 2026 World Cup, which will be co-hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico in June this year.
