Accra Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Solomon Agbasi has received his first-ever call-up to Black Stars ahead of upcoming international friendlies against Austria and Germany.
The invitation marks a major milestone in the shot-stopper’s career following his impressive performances for Accra Hearts of Oak in the ongoing Ghana Premier League season.
His call up has cast doubt over teammate and skipper Benjamin Asare’s inclusion for the friendlies. Asare was Black Stars’ first choice goalkeeper for the final stretch of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers with head coach Otto Addo naming him as the undisputed choice.
Nonetheless, Agbasi has been one of the standout goalkeepers in the domestic league, earning recognition for his consistency, commanding presence, and crucial saves that have helped Hearts of Oak remain competitive in the title race.
His inclusion in the squad offers him an opportunity to compete at the international level and potentially stake a claim for a regular place in the Black Stars setup as the team continues its rebuilding process.
The Black Stars will use the friendly matches against Austria and Germany as part of preparations for upcoming international competitions, while also assessing new talents within the squad.
