Ghana has already secured three friendly matches for the Black Stars, forming part of their 2026 FIFA World Cup preparation. The four-times Africa champions will engage Austria, Germany and Mexico.
With few months to the tournament, proper preparation is scheduled for the West African country with the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, disclosing that Ghana is currently in talks to have Wales for a pre-world cup game.
Addressing a Parliamentary Committee on Thursday, February 26, Adams confirmed that efforts are underway to secure that high-profile test for the Black Stars before they depart for the global tournament.
Coach Otto Addo’s side is building their momentum with huge expectations of impressing at the Mundial.
During the March international window — Ghana will first play against Austria on March 27 at the Ernst Happel Stadium in Vienna in a friendly, before taking on Germany three days later in Stuttgart.
In addition, the Ghana Football Association is finalising arrangements for a May friendly against Mexico, with details on the venue and date still to be announced.
The Black Stars have been drawn in Group L, where they will face Panama in their opening fixture on June 17. A heavyweight encounter with England follows on June 23, before Ghana conclude their group-stage campaign against Croatia on June 27.
Ghana’s last appearance at the global stage, found them finish 3rd in the group phase, however is marking their fourth appearance this time as the World Cup is co-hosted by USA, Canada and Mexico.
