Ghanaian international and Manchester City forward Antoine Semenyo has being applauded by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) spokesman Henry Asante Twum, following his rapid development in his football career.

The 26-year old, exactly three years ago was trading in the English second-tier but progressed to commanding a starting berth with English Premier league top side Manchester City FC. His career path, has been one of a touchy and emotional one, however progressing with numbers.

He earned a callup to the Ghana National team in May 2022 and made his debut for the Black Stars in a 3–0 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification win over Madagascar on 1 June.

The revelation begun right afterwards, with Henry Asante Twum heaping praises on him and acknowledging the fact that the Ghana Football Association spotted his talent when no one knew him.

“He went to the World Cup as a Championship player four years ago, and within four years he’s moved from Bristol to Bournemouth and now at Man City”

“That’s a major leap for Antoine. He’s had a great time since he moved from Bournemouth. He’s become the talk of the town… one of our top players at the moment”

“Yes, [Man City] are still in contention for the Premier League, currently second in the table. Once you have a player who is performing at a very, very, very top level, it’s a major boost for the team”

“As a federation, we are very, very happy that we made a decision to bring him to Ghana about four years ago when not much was known about him”, he told 3Sports.

Semenyo who joined Manchester City in January has bagged 5 goals with an assist in 9 appearance, highlighting his prowess and reason for his purchase from AFC Bournemouth.

He will be an integral part of Black Stars when they take on Austria and Germany in March international friendlies.
