Former Black Stars defender, Edwin Gyimah, has reportedly given his family a one-week deadline to vacate his eight-bedroom house, following a deeply emotional account of betrayal, hardship and personal struggles.
Speaking in an interview with Oyerepa FM, Gyimah opened up about the sacrifices he made throughout his career to support his family, particularly his mother and siblings.
However, he revealed that things took a drastic turn after a fallout with his agent, who publicly spoke against him, an incident he believes triggered a chain reaction that affected both his professional and personal life.
“Throughout my career, I gave my all to my family. But after issues with my agent, everything fell apart,” he explained.
“My relationships broke down. My employers, friends, colleagues, and even my own family have all distanced themselves from me.”
The former professional footballer further disclosed that despite receiving numerous contract offers within a year, none materialised into actual deals, leaving him struggling financially and emotionally.
“I had about 21 offers, but nothing came out of them. I turned to my family for help, even spiritually, but they turned their backs on me. I feel completely abandoned,” he lamented.
Gyimah also recounted how, while playing in South Africa, his sister allegedly approached him to transfer ownership of his house for GHS 25,000, later increasing the amount to GHS 50,000. Upon his return to Ghana, he claims he discovered that the property had been taken over without his consent.
“Now, my wife and children have nowhere to stay. We’ve been moving from place to place. It’s humiliating,” he said.
Visibly distressed, Gyimah expressed belief that his challenges may have a spiritual dimension, accusing his own family of working against him.
“I feel broken and ashamed. I believe I’m under spiritual attack from my own family. I’ve faced injuries, accidents and constant struggles. At this point, I don’t even know what to do,” he added.
Once enjoying a promising football career, Gyimah says his life has now spiralled into uncertainty and hardship, marking a painful fall from grace.
