Asante Kotoko’s supporters’ leader, Solomon Ofosu-Ware, is calling on the fanbase to lower their expectations for the upcoming 2026/27 season. In an interview with Ghana Sports Page, Ofosu-Ware candidly remarked on the challenges the club faces after a disappointing previous season, in which they finished 8th and failed to defend their MTN FA Cup title.
“Anyone who claims that Kotoko will win the league title next season is being dishonest. Although we hope to lift it, we cannot make such a declaration now. Last season, we finished 8th, and given that performance, it is unrealistic to expect us to win the league. We have to lower our expectations, but if the opportunity arises, we will go for it.
The challenges extend beyond past performances, as the team transitions to a new coaching regime under South African tactician Erick Tinkler. Ofofu-Ware pointed out the importance of the new coach getting to know the players and the adaptation process that comes with it.
“Additionally, it is important to know that the coach is new and is still familiarising himself with the players. The process of the players adapting to his system presents another challenge,” he stated.
With the new season set to kick off in September, the club is focused on making the necessary adjustments to improve on last year’s results, aiming to regain their success in the Ghana Premier League and Africa.
