Former Asante Kotoko captain, Abdul Ismail Ganiyu will play in the upcoming season to finish his one year of contract remaining with the Porcupine Warriors.
The defender of the Ghanaian champions, Kumasi Asante reportedly requested for his contract with the club to be terminated.
Ganiyu has rescind his decision and has accepted to stay ahead of the new season.
The former Karela United was left out from the squad that traveled for the second phase of the team’s pre-season training.
He extended his contract by two years with Kumasi Asante Kotoko in September 2021 and help help them to snatch the GPL title from Hearts of Oak season.
Asante Kotoko on Tuesday, 23rd September 2022 named Richard Boadu as the new captain of the team with Yusif Mubarik and Danlad Ibrahim as the 1st and 2nd deputies.
Ganiyu was named the captain of Kotoko last year after long-serving former captain Felix Annan left the club following an 11-year stint with Kotoko.
