Ghana on a step away of making a possible return into the CHAN tournament after beating the CHAN Eagles of Nigeria in the first leg clash.
The Black Galaxies wrapped up the 90 minutes with a comfortable 2-0 win courtesy of Daniel Afriyie Barnieh and Suraj Seidu at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
Annor Walker’s brilliant substitutions helped the two-time finalists to secure the general success of the day after the visitors had dominated in the first department of the game.
He took off youngster Evans Owusu on the 35th minutes for RTU skipper David Abagna Sandan who perfectly changed the face of the game.
Ghana’s early domination in the second half helped them to secure the lead with a penalty calmly converted by Daniel Afriyie Barnieh during the 49th minute.
They maintained their classic performance and matched the Eagles ‘Boot-For-Boot’ to cruise into a 2-0 conformable lead.
The second goal was superbly scored by another Phobian, Suraj Seidu on the 85th minute following a brilliant cross from Abagna which was very difficult for the Nigerians goalkeeper.
However, the Eagles mindset of securing a points or sharing the spoils was buried in Cape Coast and the win gives Ghana the hope to book the ticket for the upcoming edition of the CHAN tournament in Algeria which is scheduled for 2023.
The second leg will come off next Sunday at the Moshood Abiola Sports Stadium in Abuja with the overall winner making his way into the final tournament.
