After missing from the last three editions of the CHAN tournament, Ghana has returned to compete in the upcoming competition in Algeria after playing out a 2-2 aggregate scoreline with 5-4 win on penalties against the Super Eagles B in Abuja.
Ghana who claimed a 2-0 first leg win over Nigeria having beaten Benin twice were hoping to keep another clean sheet but the Nigerians gave them a stern test with late goals.
A change in Annor Walker’s selection saw Dominc Nsobila starting against the Super Eagles alongside RTU skipper David Abagna.
The Super Eagles dominated and tried to break Ghana’s heart but the Galaxies were calm and kept their composure before the late goals from Zulkifilu Mohammed at the 88th minute and the 90th plus additional time.
The game went straight into penalties and the Black Galaxies won 5 – 4 to seal qualification for the competition.
Both sides scored their first two kicks but Nigeria were left off the hook after missing their third kick with Ghana extending its lead to secure victory at the Moshood Abiola Sports Stadium.
The next edition of the tournament will be held in Algeria and Ghana, the two-time finalists will hope to make impact when the competition begins.
