Former Ghanaian international, Dan Quaye has advised Kumasi Asante and other GPL clubs to follow the steps of Glorious Accra Hearts.
The ex-Phobian said Togbe need to be commended as he aims to end the ‘disheartening’ trend by making the club one of the best paying clubs on the continent.
He further urged the clubs bitterest rival, Asante Kotoko to get into the highway of the Rainbows for betterment of Ghana football.
“Our father Togbe Afede is doing a great job and he needs to be commended because he is developing the club and checking on the projects he is doing. It’s amazing and we are praying that he will live long and get wisdom like King Solomon to convince other dignitaries who can also help the club. He has done a great job and it has not happened before in Ghana. If it has happened I might mention Gold Fields but in terms of traditional clubs, it hasn’t happened before.
“I think the other big teams can learn from them,” he told Ghanasportspage.com
“Using the Porcupine Warriors as a reference he said, “As a starter, you have to follow the one who is already running. It is a good sign that Kotoko should follow because the name of these two teams is in the world more than the other clubs in Ghana but both are not having their stadia”,(stadiums) he told the leading sports website in Ghana, Ghanasportspage.com.
“They witnessed some when they moved to Sudan for the preseason. All the clubs are having their stadium.
“You have to mount your clubhouse, stadium, training pitches. Abroad they have their equipment, not for the state.
“You won’t spend a lot if you have your facility. I feel it will help the other clubs if they follow though some are doing it,” he concluded.
Hearts Of Oak signed a contract with K.A Estate Limited under the supervision of Turkish construction firm Prefabex for the construction of the Pobiman Academy Project last year. The project has seen a massive improvement in the last few months after the club prioritised the development of its infrastructure
The 20 acre ultra modern sporting academy will have dormitories to house players, 3 pitches, mini stadium, volleyball, basketball, gymnasium, swimming pool, staff residence, training centres etc.
