• Amadou Sampo optimistic about the club’s winning possibilities in Kumasi
Rail Club du Kadiogo head coach, Amadou Sampo is hopeful of winning the CAF Champions League preliminary round second leg clash against Asante Kotoko in Kumasi on Sunday.
Having lost 1-0 in the first leg, the Burkinabé side will enter the second leg with the hope of turning things around despite defeat in Benin on Monday.
The tactician of the visitors is concerned about how the players will cope with the packed schedule once they prepare for Sunday’s game against the Reds in the Ashanti Region.
“We knew it was going to be difficult against an experienced team like Kotoko.
“We can go and seek qualification in Ghana in the second leg,” Amadou Sampo stated after the game.
“We knew it wouldn’t be easy at the moment when we came up against an experienced team, but on our side, we have young players who ain’t very familiar with a competition of this magnitude” Amadou stated it.
“Our individual mistake caused our defeat by one goal to nill. Therefore I think at this level, we must work hard to correct those mistakes and also qualify.”
“That’s football, we also won the championship at the last minute, which pained the opponent. Likewise, when they [Asante Kotoko] also score us at the last minute, it’s very painful. But we can also qualify, everything is possible.”, he assured.
“This is a new experience for the team and the staff. We also knew that playing against an experienced side, you should’ve more possession. We attribute the goal to an individual error and I think at this level of the competition, we need to work on this kind of situation in order not to get punished if you truly want to win because we could’ve been here to win both leagues to qualify”. He concluded.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko claimed the 1-0 victory during the 90th-minute strike from Isaac Oppong. The Porcupine Warriors can make it a ‘done-deal’ into the next stage with draw or another victory.
The second leg is scheduled for Sunday, September 18, 2022 (15:00GMT) at the Kumasi Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
