Tunisia and Denmark played out a goalless draw in their opening match of the World Cup at the Education City Stadium.
Denmark named a strong team that featured multiple players who had featured at the European Championships, including Christensen and Eriksen.
Denmark lacked a cutting edge and were put off their stride, they were also denied a penalty late on, a couple, in fact. Instead, VAR’s screen of doom was shown short shrift by the Mexican referee, and Tunisia got the point they deserve. That lived up to the description of an entertaining goalless draw.
Tunisia had a couple of threatening attacks early into the second half but none of the moves materialised.
Denmark were the better side overall but it was a balanced game. Tunisia, who had 13 shots compared to Denmark’s 11, held their own and were deserving of the draw.
The best chance of the game fell to Denmark substitute Cornelius who wasted a golden opportunity to win the game for his side.
The North Africans will be the happier side. For Denmark, the result is far from a disaster but they have their work cut-out in their next game against France and then Australia in Group D.
