Former Black Stars coach, James Kwasi Appiah has stated that it is very difficult to play at the World Cup but the team is ready to battle.
In his reaction, he emphasized that the Ghana squad has to notice that none of the matches will be easy but the nation should also rally behind the team.
After missing the 2018 tournament, the Black Stars qualified for this year’s event, where they are in the same group as South Korea, Portugal and Uruguay, the team that knocked them out of the 2010 edition in South Africa.
“Is not easy at the World Cup stage. It is very difficult and we have to give our support and prayers to the team so that they can perform and make Ghana proud. At the moment, what I can say is that our support is very important, especially for those who will be traveling with the team. Whether good or bad they should continue to support the team and it can encourage the players to perform. At the end of the day, it is Ghana. We are all Ghanaians. You will feel proud as a Ghanaian when the team performs. We will support them with prayers.”
“I always keep saying that at the World Cup level you have to make sure that all your matches won’t be easy. None of the games will be easy. You have to prepare your mind and make good preparations so that you can win against any of the teams you play. That’s the thing we should look at. You shouldn’t underrate any of them because they can surprise you,” Coach Kwasi Appiah, who led the team for their last World Cup appearance in Brazil told Ghanasportspage.com.
Ghana are in Group H where they will face Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea. Addo knows that reaching the last 16 will not be easy, but he is confident that they have the quality to spring a few surprises over the course of the World Cup.
Their opening game is scheduled for Thursday at the Stadium 974 against the Portuguese national team at 16:00GMT.
