Spanish-Swiss football tactician, who currently works as the head coach for the Central African Republic, Raoul Savoy Bangui has claimed that Ghana is favorites to win their upcoming Group H game against Uruguay.
When asked who he thought are the favourites to win Friday’s make-or-break encounter, the gaffer who led the ‘Wild Beasts’ to draw 1-1 against the Black Stars in June during the AFCON qualifiers said: “I think Ghana for now because Uruguay is not in a good way. Are a new generation and we have to put the 2010’s shameful penalty and the story aside. That story must end. Uruguay is going to lose. Ghana will win and qualify for the next round of the competition,” Ghanasportspage.com
Ghana is in final group game action on Friday afternoon against their bitter rivals, Uruguay who denied them the chance to become the first African country to reach the semi-final stage at the World Cup in 2010.
However, victory or draw would see the Black Stars advance to the knockout round of the World Cup alongside Portugal in the ongoing mundial.
The Black Stars are currently second in the group, two points ahead of fourth-placed Uruguay, who need to triumph to stand a chance of progressing to the last-16 stage of the tournament in Qatar.
Ghana knows their job, and it would be some story if they could progress to the knockout round for the first time since their run to the quarter-finals in 2010, having been eliminated in the group stage in 2014 before failing to qualify for the finals four years ago in Russia.
