Former Ghana Black Stars coach Otto Addo has resigned following Ghana’s elimination from the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament in Qatar.

The Black Stars who were defeated in their last group against Uruguay by two goals to nil have bowed out of the competition recording two defeats and one win in three games.

Otto Addo who led Ghana in their play-off games against Nigeria to qualify for the FIFA World Cup 2022 Qatar has failed many football fans in Africa especially Ghanaian citizens after Ghana’s exit from the World Cup group stage.

Addo in an interview with reporters after the game confirmed his decision to step down as the head coach of Ghana after ten months of being in charge of the Black Stars job.

According to him, he made an earlier announcement of leaving his job at the Black Stars after the 2022 World Cup to focus on his trainer scout role at Borussia Dortmund.

” I said it in October last year after accepting the assistant coach job under Milovan Rajevac. It was clear I would stop after the World Cup, even if we were World champions “, Otto Addo told reporters in Doha, Qatar.

“At the moment, I and my family see our future in Germany. I like my role at Dortmund and I am happy there”, Otto Addo concluded.

Addo won four games during his time with the Black Stars, beating Madagascar and South Korea in competitive games with the other victories coming against Nicaragua and Switzerland in friendlies.

Ghana qualified for the World Cup at the expense of Nigeria on 1-1 aggregate following a goalless draw in Kumasi and 1-1 in Abuja on March 29, 2022.

The Black Stars lost to Brazil and Uruguay and grabbed a 1-1 draw against Central African Republic in the other games under Otto Addo.

Ghana crashed out of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 tournament after finishing bottom of Group H with three points.

The team suffered two defeats to Portugal (3-2) and Uruguay (2-0) and defeated South Korea 3-2 in the other Group match.
