After one and half years of premier league absence since the truncation of the 2017/2018 league premier league due to the Number 12 Expose by Tiger Eye PI, the Ghana premier league has resumed again for the 2019/2020 season with fixtures finally released.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Monday, announced the full fixture list for the 2019/2020 season of the premier league which has been scheduled to commence on the weekends of 27-29th December, 2019. Weekend matches are scheduled for Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, while mid week matches may be played on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays.
According to the GFA, kick off times for matches may be fixed to allow matches to be played during mornings, mid-aftersnoons and evenings depending on kick off times agreed with television partners for live coverage.
The season openers for match day one sees both Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko play at home. Accra Hearts of Oak will host Berekum Chelsea at the Accra sports stadium while Asante Kotoko welcome Tachiman Eleven Wonders at the Baba Yara sports stadium in what will be coach Maxwell Konadu’s first competitive match for the Porcupine Warriors as head coach in his second coming.
Ghana flagship premiership fixture between the two most successful clubs of the league, Asante Kotoko (24 titles) and Accra Hearts of Oak (20 titles) which is dubbed ‘The Super Clash’ has been scheduled for match day 6 in Acccra, where Hearts of Oak will welcome their arc rivals with both the 3 maximum points and the bragging rights up for grab.
