With Hearts of Oak offloading some of the deadwood in their squad and selling some of their players, it’s obvious changes are going to take place.
The Rainbows already have some players on board who have been identified as possible replacement for some of their departures.
They are expected to make multiple signings this month. But there are specific positions that need upgrading for them to challenge for titles.
Centre-back, right-back and striker are the main positions on the club’s transfer radar. The recruitment process has already begun and the club has made progress with a number of targets.
The team is already being aggressive behind the scenes in terms on recruitment in search of the depth that will allow the squad to be competitive in the league and the MTN FA Cup this season and beyond.
Centre-back:
Starting from the back, it is understood Hearts of Oak has to bring in new defender to replace Mohammed Alhassan who has been released after five years. Thus, it makes sense for the Rainbows to splash the cash on recruiting one or two new quality centre-backs if they want to challenge for the league title next season.
Right-back:
With Fatawu Mohammed leaving the club, the management of the GPL giants would be wise to sign a quality backup for Samuel Inkoom to bolster their squad.
In terms of potential replacement for Fatawu Mohammed, Hearts of Oak could sign Christopher Nettey who recently parted ways with Asante Kotoko.
Nettey is now a free agent following the failure to extend his contract with the Kumasi giants.
Striker:
Outgoing Junior Kaaba’s lack of scoring and Yassan Ouatching’s current situation is a huge problem for Slavko Matic.
And now that Daniel Afriyie Barnieh has been sold to FC Zurich, Hearts of Oak should look at signing a prolific attacker who has the ability to create chances out of nowhere, score goals and torment defenders.
