Black Galaxies of Ghana were held to a goalless draw at the Nelson Mandela Stadium on Saturday against Algeria in a preparatory clash ahead of the upcoming CHAN tournament.
Coach Annor Walker’s side were hoping to build upon their victory over Al Alhy SC, but an impressive performance by Algeria gave them a point in the game.
The Algerians pushed for the opener in the second half but Danlad Ibrahim’s resolute goalkeeping kept Ghana in the game.
Though the Black Galaxies looked by far the sharper and more fluid side in the final minutes but had to settle for draw.
The game afforded both sides the chance to test each other ahead of the CHAN competition.
Barnieh, Awako, Nsobila, Konadu Yiadom, Randolph, Adomako, Jonah Attuquaye, Abagna and Razak Yusif were all in Ghana’s starting XI while Kordzi, Augustine Agyapong and others started from the bench.
Annor Walker’s side are returning to the tournament for the first time since 2014.
The are hoping to make history with fixtures against Sudan, Morocco and Madagascar in Group D.
Ghana will play its final friendly against Mozambique on January 10 in Constantine before the competition which starts on January 13.
