Dominant Hearts of Oak back to winning ways with impressive win over Berekum Chelsea

A determined approach by Hearts of Oak helped them pick all three points against Berekum Chelsea after beating the visitors 3-1 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Both clubs failed to find the back of the net in the first half but Hearts of Oak managed to weather a late storm of pressure to snatch the maximum points.

The Phobians got off to the perfect start eager to make amends for last week’s defeat. Awako, who returned to Slavko Matic’s setup after the CHAN tournament showed his class with decent passes. Konadu Yiadom also started from defence.

Cameroonian forward Eonde Albert Diego Dieudonne was handed his first start after joining the Ghanaian side in the just ended transfer window.

Kwabena Arthur became the first player to be booked for a rough tackle on Mtange during the game.

Gladson Awako nearly scored the opener for the Rainbows in the 29th minute but goalkeeper Ernest saved Chelsea from what would have been the first goal.

The second half started slowly, with both sides content to gradually work their way back into the game.

Despite the pressure from the Rainbows, it took them 82 minutes before snatching the lead after Zakaria Fuseini’s own goal.

Hearts, who had lost their last game against RTU however had something to cheer about when substitute Benjamin Yorke doubled the lead during the 87th minute.

With two minutes left to end the game, Kusi Panderous pulled one back for the visitors.

Hearts continued to look dangerous and the third goal was registered in the dying minutes through Victor Aiddo, who just returned from loan.

Slavko Matic’s side are back to the top four. They find themselves at the second position with 28 points. Chelsea still occupy the tenth position with 22 points.
