The Ashanti Regional Football Association has announced the starting date for the region’s women’s, colts and lower division leagues. Women’s ExCO Representative, Evelyn Nsiah Asare has told ghanasportsonline.com colts football will commence on April 17, 2021.
Starting almost a month later is the Division One, Two and Three Leagues, which, she says, will kick off on May 14, 2021.The dates for the resumption of the various lower competition were agreed on after a meeting between the Board and the clubs on Tuesday.The lower-tier competitions were suspended in 2018, following investigative journalist Anas Arimeyaw Anas’ expose on football corruption in Ghana.
The National Women’s Premier League which also suffered the same fate has since resumed and is halfway through the 2020/21 season, and RFA confirms that the lower leagues come next.”All eight Division-One women’s clubs have agreed to the scheduled date and are preparing for the commencement of the League,” says Evelyn Nsiah Asare.
“The Division three League will also commence on the same date (14th May, 2021)with the Colts League also starting on April 17, before the various Divisions League’s follows.Evelyn Nsiah Asare reveals further that the Association would in the coming days announce the road map for the various competitions.
