The New Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton is expected to travel to Ghana next week for his unveiling after his appointment on his new role.
The Ghana Football Association appointed Chris Hughton to replace Otto Addo who resigned after Ghana finished bottom of Group G at the 2022 World Cup.
Hughton joined the Black Stars technical team in March last year as a technical advisor to the team.
The unveiling of the new Black Stars Coach to the general public has been delayed with a lot of football lovers raising concerns about his appointment.
In an interview with 3sports, the communication director of the Ghana Football Association Henry Asante Twum revealed the cause of the delay in unveiling the new gaffer.
“Chris had to stay in the UK because he lost his dad and needed time with his family and plan the burial service. That’s why he’s not been to Ghana yet.”
“We expect Chris to be in Ghana next week if everything goes according to plan. We are constantly engaging on his unveiling, media engagement, and build-up to the games,”
GFA decided to maintain the two assistant coaches who assisted Otto Addo during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
“He is working, Chris and his assistants will be unveiled together. When he arrives we will communicate the date and venue for his unveiling and then use that as part of the build-up to the game against Angola. There will also be squad announcements, details of the contract, and the targets set for the new technical team.”
The Black Stars of Ghana will square off with Angola on Thursday, March 23, 2023 in an African Cup of Nations Qualifier in Kumasi, Ghana
