Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Tulsa – For the vacant WBO featherweight title, two-time Cuban Olympic gold medalist Robeisy Ramirez (12-1, 7 KOs) won a twelve-round unanimous decision over former world champion Isaac Dogboe (25-2, 15 KOs).
The scores were 117-110, 118-109 and 119-108. After a slow first round, Ramirez began to get going in the second with quick punches. Dogboe was getting more active with his punches in the third but was still being outlined. Dogboe had the best success by going to the body.
They began to trade heavy punches in the fourth after Dogboe landed a big right hand. It was a toe to toe battle with Ramirez landing more often, but Dogboe was now on the attack more often. Dogboe was coming forward in the fifth, as the action continued to heat up. Both had moments in close action. They were trading away in the sixth when Dogboe connected with a big right. Ramirez fought him off with rapid combinations.
Ramiez seemed to be looking for one shot in the seventh. Dogboe was doing good work during the action. In the eighth, Ramirez outboxed Dogboe and was landing accurate potshots. In the ninth, Ramirez continued to outbox and outland Dogboe, who wasn’t doing enough. The tenth saw Ramirez circling and landing fast combinations. Dogboe had moments of success, but not enough.
Dogboe came out firing punches and pushing Ramirez back in the eleventh. Ramirez was not throwing much as Dogboe was doing most of the work. In the twelfth and final round, Dogboe came out pressing while Ramirez was looking for counters. Ramirez scored a flash knockdown as Dogboe lunged in with a punch. Dogboe fired off a lot of punches in response, with most being blocked.
