UPPER WEST AKIM: Adeiso-Anchiase beat Okurase Zongo XI to win 2023 Adom Easter Gala

Adeiso-Anchiase entered the record books of Upper West Akim on Monday after two weeks, beating Okurase Zongo XI 1-0 to win the 2023 Adom Easter Gala.

The champions made it to the final after claiming a goal victory over former champions Breman FC on Friday, while Okurase Zongo XI brushed off Gyata Warriors.

The competition which is dubbed “Adom Easter GALA” started on Sunday, March 26. It was organized by the Deputy Minister of Transport, Ghana and MP for Upper West Akim, Hon. Frederick Obeng Adom.

This is the fifth edition of the annual event organised by the MP.

A total of 94 teams from 8 zones competed for the ultimate prize. Adeiso-Anchiase and Okurase were among the eight teams to reach the final playoffs in the district’s capital, Adeiso for the grand ceremony.

The champions received Gh¢10,000 cash reward for winning the competition. The runners-up also got Gh¢5,000, while the third-place team, Breman FC bagged Gh¢ 3,000.

Anchiase goalkeeper, Evans Apreku was crowned the Best Goalkeeper and the Player Of The Tournament following his impressive performance. He walked away with an Itel 32 inch LED Tv and gloves.

Nobody came close to what Evans did. His impact single-handled kept his team in position to win it. He closed down well, he was a sure thing in the air and made no mistakes. It was as close to a perfect goalkeeper performance as you will find.

Bashiru Tanko of Breman FC also went home with an electric blender for emerging as the top-scorer. His run of excellent helped the former champions to finish third.

“I know this is a competition for the ultimate which would require that it will be fiercely contested by all.

“But I want to urge you all to show love to each player and the supporters and let’s all help build a strong constituency.

“On my part, as the Member of Parliament, I will assist all the competing teams equally, and I support you all. All the very best to you,” Hon. Obeng Adom said.

3. 3rd position: GH¢3,000 in addition to a football and Jersey
4. 2nd position GH¢5,000 plus football and Jersey
5. 1st position, GH¢10,000 plus football and Jersey
