Evelyn Badu scored an 84th minute goal as Ghana wrapped up their two international friendly games against the Teranga Lionesses of Senegal with a 1-0 win at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The match looked destined for a stalemate until a late strike from the Avaldsnes IL midfielder. Badu made no mistake after receiving a pass from Adama Alhassan to break the deadlock.
The Black Queens put up an impressive performance to dismantle the Senegalese women’s national team 3-0 in the first leg on Saturday.
Today’s victory makes it three straight wins for the Black Queens since Nora Hauptle’s appointment.
She made four changes to the team for the second leg. The trainer named McCarthy Kerrie in goal as replacement for Cynthia Konlan. Anasthesia Achiaa also came into the squad for Adama Alhassan while Patience Peterson and Azumah Bugre started for the Black Queens.
The double-header served as part of Ghana’s preparations for the 2023 WAFU B Cup of Nations and the African Women’s Cup of Nations 2024 qualifiers.
The Ghanaian Football Association will continue to set up another friendly matches for the Black Stars to offer Coach Nora Hauptle an opportunity to assess the strength of the team and strategize for the future.
